Supernatural for St. Jude is a fandom-wide effort to donate toys to the children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
I wanted to remind everyone why it’s such an important and worthy cause by sharing some of the many stories on St. Jude’s website.
A toy drive would benefit kids like Colin, who at the age of 2 was diagnosed with ependymoma, a malignant tumor that makes up approximately six percent of brain tumors in children. Within two days of his diagnosis Colin had undergone two surgeries, one to remove fluid build-up and another to remove the bulk of his tumor. Or Emma, age 5, who participated in a Trike-a-Thon for St. Jude and was admitted to the same hospital only one year later, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. Or Catie, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor in 2008. She made a simple birthday wish in December of the same year, not for presents, but for all those who loved her to donate money to St. Jude. She wanted to raise $1.4 million dollars, the operating costs of the hospital for one year; Catie and her supporters raised nearly $2 million.
The children of St. Jude endure incredible pain and hardship just to survive. Through it all they find not only a reason to smile, but to give back to others. It’s for those reasons that it’s so important for our fandom to come together to give back to them.

I’m going to do this. I don’t have any family, so this will be my gifts.
